burner tip assembly orifice heater

Using technology from Cold Weather'sHeat Driven Loop and applying it in an original way, A-Fire has come up with a new product to deal with the problem of freezing burner tip orifices.

The Burner Tip Assembly (BTA) Orifice Heater is based on the operating principles of the Cold Weather Heat Driven Loop. A sealed and evacuated chamber containing a small amount of water is installed with one end near the burner tip assembly and the other attached to the orifice holder.

The device slopes downward as it nears the flame, and the radiant heat from the flame evaporates the water. The resulting steam travels up the slope to the orifice holder.

At the cold orifice holder the steam condenses, giving up its heat, and thereby warming the orifice. The re-condesed water flows down the slope to the hot end of the chamber, where the process begins again.

Benefits of the BTA Orifice Heater:

• Provides a constant source of heat to the burner tip assembly,
• Prevents freezing without sacrificing efficiency or economy,
• Reduces or eliminates the need for methanol,
More reliable heat,
• The device will not freeze even when burning high-moisture content gas at very low ambient temperatures,
• The burner and orifice can be sized appropriately for the application and subsequently optimized independently of consideration of orifice freezing, and
• The device is safe, simple, and creates no additional operator activity or operating costs. No operator intervention or maintenance on an operating unit is required.
